Let there be LIPs

Many years ago I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show entirely too many times at the now-closed Coventry theatre (I think it was in Mayfield Heights?).

I still remember the very beginning of the audience participation:

We chant "Lips...lips...lips..." and cheer when they appear on the screen. Then we say:

{ "A long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,
God said: 'Let there be lips,' and there were.
And they were good. and the lips said 'thank you'. Sing!"

They looked like this:

It is amazing how over 20 years later I can be doing the same chant. But it is hard not to with the list of LIP languages increasing regularly. Now including the Konkani LIP!

Let's all chant together now.... Lips... lips.... lips.... :-)

Mayfield? No, the theater on Coventry (The Centrum) was in Cleveland Heights. Well before it closed, Rocky moved to the Cedar Lee (also in Cleveland Heights) many years ago. I started going regularly at the Cedar Lee in 1992 when it was weekly. It was a better show than the Varsity's in Seattle.

Once I stopped going it became less popular, but it still plays the first Saturday of every month. If you're ever in town on the right night, I'd be glad to take you!

Hi Gabe -- yes, you are correct. Mayfield Heights was where some of the people I went with came from, thats all. :-)
