You see, not too long ago I was looking over on TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog), and reading Steven Sande's Microsoft working to add Lion features to Office 2011.
Yes, I know MacNN broke the story before TUAW, but TUAW is where I saw it first!
Muthu Nedumaran shared the article with me and commented:
It'll be good if they take the trouble to clean up the Indic bugs while they usher
in the Lion.
~ MUTHU
Thinking back to my own review from the beginning of the year (Short-sighted text processing #4: Squeezing every bit of text you possibly can out of MacOffice 2011), in particular the summary grid:
Application | AAT Support |
OpenType support |
Word | NO | MOSTLY |
PowerPoint | YES | NO |
Excel | YES | NO |
Outlook | YES | KINDA |
I'll admit I have hopes that run similar to Muthu's, even though my expectations are more muted - I have absolutely no inside knowledge but I suspect they'll wait for support from OS X itself in many cases.
Though I'd be happy to be proven wrong here. There is definitely room for improvement and I would love to see them slip some stuff in.
Anyone want me on the beta? :-)
